History
As a pioneer in domestic grinder manufacturing, Okamoto Machine Tool Works developed the domestic production number 1 gear grinder and surface grinder, respectively in 1930 and 1953. Since then, we have delivered all kinds of products to the world, worthy of a comprehensive abrasive processing tools manufacturer. Our high precision, high quality machines are operating in all parts of the world. With a collection of tradition and wisdom of 70-odd-year workmanship inherited from a successive generation of masters, we will continue to create machines demanded by time.

| 1955 | Developed the first domestic production of the External Blade Type Slicing Machine Model PSG-3Ge. |
| 1963 | Listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange, 2nd Section. |
| 1968 | Developed the world’s first CNC Surface/Profile Grinder Model NFG-5. |
| 1972 | Established Okamoto Corporation, a local subsidiary in Chicago, USA as a distributor. |
| 1973 | Established Okamoto (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a local subsidiary in Singapore, the first to manufacture the machine tools locally. |
| 1982 | Annaka Plant in Gunma Prefecture completed and started production. |
| 1987 | Established Okamoto (Thai) Company Ltd., a local subsidiary in Thailand. |
| 1992 | Established Okamoto Machine Tool Europe GmbH, a subsidiary in Germany. |
| 1994 | Okamoto Singapore was ISO9002 certified (the first in the machine tool industry for the Asia region). |
| 1995 | Opened a branch in Singapore, as a sales and service base. |
| 1997 | Awarded with JSME (The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) Technology Award for developing a fully automatic vertical high precision surface grinder. Awarded with JSAT (The Japan Society for Abrasive Technology) Technology Award for developing fully automatic high precision and high efficiency CMP equipments . |
| 2002 | Established a representative office in Shanghai, China. |
| 2005 | Completed the Clean Room for testing and inspecting semiconductor equipments at the Annaka Plant. |
| 2005 | Completed the Okamoto Thai new assembly plant. |
| 2005 | Completed the processing and assembly booth with a constant temperature environment at the Annaka Plant. |
| 2006 | Completed the Spindle Room at the Annaka Plant. |
| 2006 | Completed the Okamoto Thai new casting plant. (With both new and old plants, the production capacity will be 1800 tons per month.) |
| 2007 | Completed the Okamoto Thai plating and coating plant. |
| 2007 | Completed the world’s largest Ultra-Precision Double Column Type Surface Grinder UDG10035NC in the hydrostatic pressure guideway system as Annaka Plant equipment.![]() |
